1948 and the continuation of Ezekiel chapter 4

In this continuation of Ezekiel chapter 4, the requests from the Lord become more bizarre, but there is an application and fulfillment that Ezekiel could never know, for it extended far into the future.

4 “As for you, lie down on your left side and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel on it; you shall bear their iniquity for the number of days that you lie on it. 5 For I have assigned you a number of days corresponding to the years of their iniquity, three hundred and ninety days; thus you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel. 6 When you have completed these, you shall lie down a second time, but on your right side and bear the iniquity of the house of Judah; I have assigned it to you for forty days, a day for each year. 7 Then you shall set your face toward the siege of Jerusalem with your arm bared and prophesy against it. 8 Now behold, I will put ropes on you so that you cannot turn from one side to the other until you have completed the days of your siege.

390 on Left side = number of years the Kingdom of Israel (Northern Kingdom) sinned
+ 40 on Right side = number of years the Kingdom of Judah (Southern Kingdom) sinned
430 years total punishment for the years of offense.
-70 for the years of the Babylonian Captivity (they served their time)
360 years left of punishment.

There is a principle taken from Leviticus 26:18 “If also after these things you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins”
This assumes that Israel did not repent sufficiently during the 70 years

360 x 7 = 2520 Biblical prophetic years of 360 days each
2520 x 360 = 907,200 days
907,200 divided by 365.25 (number of years in a Gregorian year) = 2483.78 years
2483 + 1 year since between -1 BC and 1 AD there is only 1 year = 2484

Starting Point = Year the Babylonian Invasion began = 606 BC

   606
   -70 years in Babylonian Captivity
   536 BC
+2484
1948 The birth of the nation of Israel! (and my birthday as well!)

Furthermore, there was 19 years between when the first captives were taken (including Ezekiel) and when Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Jerusalem.

This corresponds to the 19 years between when Israel became a nation (1948) and when Israel unified Jerusalem (1967).

I'm sure that for the 430 days that Ezekiel endured the strange sleeping request, he and his wife did not know the full reason why he was doing this.

To some degree, it was for our benefit. We have another example of how prophecy in the Bible proves the supernatural nature of the Word.

This has been recorded on many websites. Here are just a few:
