One Nation Under GOD: Ten Things Every Christian Should Know About the Founding of America - 1 of 10

 One Nation Under GOD

Ten Things Every Christian Should Know About the Founding of America

By Dr. David C. Gibbs, President of Christian Law Association

And Jerry Newcombe

I just finished the book One Nation Under GOD and was saddened and amazed at how it revealed to me a worldview in a country that bears little resemblance to the country we live in today. The culture that controls America has regressed to a shameful degree. Proverbs 14:34 has a truth that our country needs to know and follow.

Righteousness Exalts a Nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.

I hope to do a post for every one of these ten things. In the book, each chapter deals with one of the ten points and ends with a conclusion. I intend to explore these, hopefully with quotes - especially because the fake news has distorted the truth.

The first of these ten is about Christopher Columbus. The left has demonized him and torn down his statues. Here is a quote from a book he wrote called the Book of Prophecies

“It was the Lord who put into my mind (I could feel His hand upon me) to sail to the Indies. All who heard of my project rejected it with laughter, ridiculing me. There is no question that the inspiration was from the Holy Spirit, because He comforted me with rays of marvelous illumination from the Holy Scriptures.

…..

For the execution of the journey to the Indies I did not make use of intelligence, mathematics, or maps. It is simply the fulfillment of what Isaiah prophesied…

These are great and wonderful things for the earth, and the signs are that the Lord is hastening the end. The fact that [the] gospel must still be preached to so many lands in such a short time - this is what convinces me.”

Conclusion

We must continue to remember the great contributions Christopher Columbus made to Western Civilization and must join with Columbus in giving thanks to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, who has bestowed upon us so great a victory and gift. Every Columbus Day we should celebrate the salvation of countless souls throughout the centuries in America, made possible by his voyage. And may we never forget America’s dependence on God.

So we have seen that the first thing every Christian should know about the founding of America is that Christopher Columbus changed history by his voyage, a voyage that was ultimately motivated by his Christian faith. Next, we will look at a whole group of settlers, beginning with the Pilgrims, who’s devotion to Christ is well known by all, even the ungodly.
