The Divine Reversal of Esther Just Happened again in Persia/Iran

I just listened to a great program by Rabbi Jason Sobel on the amazing parallels between what happened in the book of Esther and what just happened in Iran. Here is a quick summary.

1 Samuel 15:9 records the disobedience of Saul, which would cost him the kingship. He was told to utterly wipe out the Amalekites, who were the people that attacked Israel when they came out of Egypt, but he didn’t.

“But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and all that was good, and were unwilling to utterly destroy them. But everything despised and worthless, that they utterly destroyed.”

Descendants of the Amalekites produced Haman, who became obsessed with taking revenge on the Jewish people. He occurs in the book of Esther as the nemesis of

Purim is going on right now. It celebrates God’s deliverance of Israel from the planned genocidal attack by Haman, the descendant of Amalek, This divine reversal occurred in Persia, which is today called Iran. That miracle just occurred again. The United States stopped the evil ambitions of Iran by killing its leader whose name is very similar to Haman’s. Ali Khamenei. While the name is not an exact match, (hamen vs haman), the saving of the Jewish people is exact.
