The Late Great Plant Earth missed the Mark

Topic: I’ve said many times in this blog that the church has often interpreted the Bible incorrectly because they have applied Greek thinking instead of Hebrew thinking. In the same way our view on prophecy has interpreted the times incorrectly because it has been European based instead of Middle East based.  Back in the early 70’s when Hal Lindsay wrote the Late Great Plant Earth, which was read by millions of people (including me) it ended with this prediction: 

“The military capability of the United States, though it is at present the most powerful in the world, has already been neutralized because no one has the courage to use it decisively. When the economy collapses, so will the military.The only chance of slowing up this decline in America is a widespread spiritual awakening.As the United States loses power, Western Europe will be forced to unite and become the standard-bearer of the western-world. Look for the emergence of a "United States of Europe" composed of ten inner member nations. The Common Market is laying the groundwork for this coalition on earth. It will stop the Communist take-over of the world and will for a short while control both Russia and Red China through the personal genius of the Antichrist who will become ruler of the European confederacy.”

The part about the United States is, unfortunately, right on. But the rest has missed the mark, as in the mark of the beast. Last week I went to Atlanta to hear Joel Richardson speak at a church. He is one of several authors who have realized as they studied their Bible with an eye on the Middle East that the key is not someone like Mr. Carpathian of Left Behind fame. To find out who and what is more likely to usher in the end-times, I encourage you to read the books I've mentioned here. Then read Joel Rosenberg's book The Twelfth Imam to get one possible scenario. 

Joel Richardson spoke several times about many prophetic developments that are relevant to our times and showed how they matched uncannily to scripture. Indeed the headlines today are screaming about these things and we must pray for our Government which is unfortunately forgetting the Abrahamic blessing: “I will bless those who bless you (Israel) and curse those who curse you.” I talked with Brian Kessler, one of the pastors at the church and got an autographed copy of his book: The Zion Mandate. I will close with a quote from the back cover:

I encourage you to pray for Israel, our country, and those around you. We need HIS help in every way.
