Succoth 2016

Today at sundown is the first day of Succoth (Soo - Coat), or, as it’s translated in the NKJV: Feast of Tabernacles/Booths. I took the pictures shown here in Qumran, Israel in 1999. The staff who worked at Qumran had apparently made one, but I had seen them in many places on our trip through Israel (mostly on balconies) in Nazareth and Jerusalem. Many Jewish and Messianic families make these and spend time in them. I know of other Christians who have done so as well. If we make it into the Millenium, we will do so too, as this verse makes clear:

Zechariah 14:16
“And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.”

Every year the ICEJ (International Christian Embassy Jerusalem) celebrates the Feast of Tabernacles in Israel.

Today, at 1:30pm EST, the ICEJ's 2016 Feast of Tabernacles celebration will go LIVE from Ein Gedi near the Dead Sea, Israel. Check out the Feast streaming schedule on their website.
“May you blessed by this wonderful event, and we pray you will be able to join us in person next year! - ICEJ Feast Team”

So, I’d recommend that we all learn more about these structures so we’re ready!
Here are some other verses that mention the feast:
Leviticus 23:42
‘You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.”

Nehemiah 8:16
Then the people went out and… made themselves booths, each one on the roof of his house, or in their courtyards or the courts of the house of God, and in the open square of the Water Gate and in the open square of the Gate of Ephraim.

Nehemiah 8:17
So the whole assembly of those who had returned from the captivity made booths and sat under the booths; for since the days of Joshua the son of Nun until that day the children of Israel had not done so. And there was very great gladness.

Zechariah 14:16
And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.
